Sample Employee Handbooks
The company Employee Handbook and related personnel policies are usually the first formal communication that you will have with an employee after they join your organization. Make sure the first impression is a good one. Similarly, in the event of a dispute or poor performance review, this will be the first place that the employee turns.
Please note that the Sample Handbooks provided here are for reference only and should not be used without modification. Each company is different, has its own culture, employee requirements and expectations. Laws change, and these Handbooks may not be in compliance with current rules and regulations. In addition, your state may have additional or different laws and regulations not contemplated by a particular Handbook. Consult appropriate local counsel before adapting any form for use in your company or organization.*

*The materials presented herein are for general reference only. Federal, state or local laws or individual circumstances may require amendment of individual policies and/or the entire Handbook to meet specific situations. Some government forms may be presented in altered size, font or format and may not, therefore, meet federal or state requirements. These materials are intended to be used only as guides and should not be used, adopted or modified without the advice of competent legal counsel. In particular, policies relating to spouses, domestic partners, and civil unions, as well as those relating to maternity, military, and sick leave should be reviewed by counsel, as these laws have recently been expanded. Your state may afford broader protections to certain classes of employees than does federal law.
These materials are presented, therefore, with the understanding that we are not engaged in rendering legal, accounting, or other professional service. If legal advice or other expert assistance is required, the services of a competent professional should be sought.
These policies apply to all eligible employees. The provisions of these policies shall be effective in the event that there is no state or federal law that would afford the employee greater benefits or protections than those offered by the company. If state or federal law affords the employee benefits or protections not contemplated herein, those benefits or protections are controlling and shall supersede this policy.
